My Daily Lunch Routine
I have been trying get more fruits and vegetables into my daily diet. And by diet, I just mean the way that I eat. I don’t know about you, but making a salad just feels so daunting sometimes. And I love to cook, chop and bake! I think it’s because there’s the morning rush, the daily things that need to be done, work and dinner to think about and it feels like there isn’t really time to go into the kitchen and prepare one. more. meal. Trying to keep it real, for myself, I realized that if I was going to eat something that made me feel good for lunch,…

Hack to keep your couch from slipping
We moved and purchased a sectional for our main living area. The room has beautiful vinyl floors. The only problem is the rug doesn’t quite go under the entire couch. Now, if it did, we wouldn’t have a problem. The sectional couch wouldn’t slip and we (me) would all be happy. I am not about to buy a larger and more expensive rug to solve this problem when there is a much more simple (cheaper) solution. And why does it matter if the couch constantly slips out of place? If you’ve ever had a sectional, you know that the sections will disconnect when the pieces slip. It’s an annoying and…

My absolute must-have kitchen tool
I have purchased many, many kitchen tools over the years. My husband and I were in the military when we got married. We didn’t have a big wedding where we received gifts of kitchen essentials. We started from scratch. We stocked our kitchen from a local thrift shop. There were many plastic measuring cups to choose from. I now know why, for the most part. I soon purchased many plastic measuring cups over the years. The reason why I purchased so many was because the measurements would soon be washed away or rubbed off. For some people, that might never be a problem. They will be able to look at…

Washing Grapes for a Great Day
Do you ever food prep your fruit? I do and it makes life so much better! A couple of things you can do ahead of time: Wash your strawberries but leave the stems on. Wash and pluck grapes from stems. Cut up watermelon and put it into an airtight container or ziplock bags. If you get a watermelon but you won’t be using all of it the same day, store it in the fridge for the rest of the week. You might not think to prepare fruit for the coming week, but it makes eating fruit convenient and with a busy schedule it can make all the difference between rotting…

KitchenAid VS Bosch – Mixer Showdown
I have been asked many times what is the best mixer to buy. I have a surprising opinion on this topic. I think both! Now, I would never suggest buying both at once! I was married for 10 years and saved up by the time I purchased a bosch mixer. I think for the money, a KitchenAid is a great mixer to begin with! Here are some of the pros and cons of each and you might see why I love having both! The KitchenAid is a great mixer to have, especially if you can grab one while it’s on sale! I am sure there are a thousand uses for…

My {baking} secret weapon
Baking is one of my most favorite things to do! It’s so calming and relaxing. I love baking things that are so yummy for other people. I love the chemistry and science behind it. I love experimenting with new recipes. And I love researching and reading everything I can about how to get the best bakes. One thing I don’t love is when something I make doesn’t turn out the way I thought it should when I have done everything right. It doesn’t always make sense if I followed the recipe correctly. It donned on me that it could be the oven. If the oven temperature says 350 degrees Fahrenheit…

Easiest DIY Bow Ever!
I bought a beautiful lit wreath for Christmas that I really love the look of. I love the flocking, and the LED lights that have a battery pack, but it was missing something. I had some ribbon on hand from years past but that was about it. I decided to make a bow with just things on hand! This bow is so easy and you only need two things! Wire ribbon and a bread tie! If you have your own wire, that’s great too! Determine how big you want your bow and cut a length of ribbon. It’s up to you! 2. Peel paper off of the bread tie. 3.…

The Dishwasher Fix You Might Need
One day, I had had enough of my dishes coming out worse than when they went in. After doing a bunch of internet research, and looking at my dishwasher manual, I realized that my dishwasher had a filter! And that the filter needed to be cleaned out routinely! I had no idea! You can see from the picture where my filter is. With a simple twist and very gently cleaning it and reinserting, my dishwasher problems went away! Your filter may be more or less dirty. When I first discovered that I needed to clean my filter, my filter was very dirty! Now, your problems might not be that simple…

My absolute must-have kitchen tool-part 2
I learned many years ago there is only one liquid measuring cup I will ever own. Pyrex. Why? Because I have purchased many, many other liquid measuring cups in the past only to be completely surprised (not the good kind of surprised) to find the measurement readings completely disappear! What on earth would I need a liquid measuring cup without any measurement readings for?! I have many Pyrex liquid measuring cups and have had them for many years. I love that they are glass! I love that the readings stay put! I have one that has had much more use than the others and there is a bit of fading…

My Favorite Kitchen Sink Hack
When I was younger, my mother always told me to never put knives in the sink. She said this would lead to unexpected cuts when reaching into the sink. So, as far back as I can remember, I would leave knives that needed to be washed on the counter by the sink. Until that is, I discovered the coolest colander! To me, it’s more than a colander. I usually don’t wash dishes several times a day. I will let them collect in the sink and wash them after dinner. I just don’t have time to wash dishes several times a day. I collect silverware and knives in this cool colander!…
