DIY Valentine’s Day Farmhouse Sign
I love decorating for Valentine’s Day and Farmhouse decor! Rustic looking wood signs are my favorite. I looked for a cute sign for above my stove but I couldn’t find one. What’s a girl to do?! Make one, course! Here is a rundown of how I did it in case you want to make one for yourself (and why wouldn’t you?) Equipment: Vinyl cutting machine (I use the Cricut Explore Air 2 and I have LOVED it) Table saw (to cut the board and side pieces, you can also ask it to be cut to the size you want at Home Depot or Lowes) Clamps (for clamping the sides while…

Valentine’s Day tree decorations
I never would have thought I would have a Valentine’s Day tree! But here we are, the years of 2020/2021! We need some cheering up. So, introducing, our Valentine’s Day tree! I love decorating for Valentine’s Day and we are always sad when the Christmas tree gets put away every year, so we will enjoy this festive creation! The garland is something I got at Pottery Barn years ago. It says Be Mine. Here are the paints I used for painting the ornaments, they are acrylic. I got them from Target. Here is a link to the ornaments. I think they are the most darling ornaments and so versatile! You…

That one time we remodeled our kitchen
Ok, guys. Buckle up for this ride (there’s brick backsplash!). Mr. Darcy and I bought a house a few years ago and it was a fixer-upper. I saw amazing potential and it did not disappoint. I saw an early 2000’s style and I knew it would transform beautifully into a modern industial look beautifully. Here is what we started with: I won’t go into much detail about how I painted the cabinets. It was a very long and hard project to do by myself with five little kids (one was a tiny baby at the time) but my mom was staying with us when I did it, so that was…

Add beauty to your space for FREE!
No matter the season, there is beauty all around. One Saturday morning, we were feeling cooped up and a little restless. It’s been a hard year to find things to do. We love hiking in general and decided to go on a hike. There was snow all over the ground and we had a really happy time hiking a path near a river. The kids would walk a little ahead of us and build tiny snowmen to surprise us. It was really fun time and we all had smiles on our face. You would think with snow covering the ground, there would be not much else to look out outiside.…

Hack to keep your couch from slipping
We moved and purchased a sectional for our main living area. The room has beautiful vinyl floors. The only problem is the rug doesn’t quite go under the entire couch. Now, if it did, we wouldn’t have a problem. The sectional couch wouldn’t slip and we (me) would all be happy. I am not about to buy a larger and more expensive rug to solve this problem when there is a much more simple (cheaper) solution. And why does it matter if the couch constantly slips out of place? If you’ve ever had a sectional, you know that the sections will disconnect when the pieces slip. It’s an annoying and…

Making something from nothing–Reading nook
We just moved into a new home. I realized a space next to our stairs in the basement would be a perfect spot for a reading nook. Having a special spot for reading in your home, however big or small, can be such a great invitation for kids to read. I have lived in a few homes since my kids were young and we haven’t always had the “perfect spot” for a reading area. But, I have always tried to make use of any little areas in our homes that don’t have a use. Sometimes it’s just been a little spot in the kids’ rooms. I hadn’t really figured out…

The Easiest Farmhouse Wreath I’ve Ever Made!
After a lot of searching online, I finally found a wreath that I liked and could hang in my kitchen! I need a somewhat small wreath to hang above my stove. It’s can’ be a size that would you hang on your front door, such as a 22″ or 24″ wreath. I felt, for the space, it had to be around 14″. I have one that I absolutely love that I hang there for the rest of the year but I wanted to hang something different for the Christmas season. It’s been a hard year and we could all use the fun decorations to brighten the spirit! As I was…

Easiest DIY Bow Ever!
I bought a beautiful lit wreath for Christmas that I really love the look of. I love the flocking, and the LED lights that have a battery pack, but it was missing something. I had some ribbon on hand from years past but that was about it. I decided to make a bow with just things on hand! This bow is so easy and you only need two things! Wire ribbon and a bread tie! If you have your own wire, that’s great too! Determine how big you want your bow and cut a length of ribbon. It’s up to you! 2. Peel paper off of the bread tie. 3.…

Christmas neighbor gifts
Every year I ponder what type of gifts to make or buy for my neighbors, my children’s teachers, and friends at church. There have been times when I know there are several in that group that would rather not have sweet treats, so I will try to come up with something fun that won’t add to the sugar overload that sometimes happens at the Christmas season. But, this year my love of baking got the better of me. Who doesn’t love a good homemade cookie, though?! I decided that I wanted to make one of my favorite cookies, pumpkin sugar cookies((you totally have to make them!). But it isn’t the easiest…
